General
What is Freigent?
Freigent is an AI-powered platform for trucking carriers. It handles dispatch, rate negotiation, booking, invoicing, compliance monitoring, and driver communication — the back-office work that takes carriers away from running their business.
Is Freigent a TMS?
It includes TMS functionality (load tracking, dispatch, fleet management), but it goes further. Most TMS platforms are just databases — you still do all the work. Freigent's AI agents actually do the work: negotiate rates, send emails, generate invoices, track compliance.
Do I need to be tech-savvy to use it?
No. If you can send a text message and use email, you can use Freigent. The onboarding assistant walks you through setup, and the AI handles the complexity behind the scenes.
Does Freigent replace my dispatcher?
For small fleets and owner-operators, it can handle most of what a dispatcher does. For larger fleets, it's more like giving your dispatcher a team of AI assistants — they focus on the important stuff while the AI handles the routine.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All data is encrypted, stored in isolated databases per organization, and never shared with other carriers or third parties. We use enterprise-grade security (Supabase/AWS infrastructure).
Setup
How long does setup take?
About 30 minutes to get the basics working — add drivers, vehicles, connect email, and connect your ELD. You can start taking loads the same day.
Do I need to change my ELD or accounting software?
No. Freigent integrates with your existing tools. Keep using Motive, Samsara, QuickBooks, or whatever you already have.
Can I try it before committing?
The founding carrier program is free — there's nothing to commit to. Use it for real loads and see if it works for your operation.
What if I already use another TMS?
You can run Freigent alongside your existing TMS during a transition period. Many carriers start by letting Freigent handle email and negotiations while keeping their existing TMS for load tracking, then gradually move everything over.
AI & Automation
Will the AI make mistakes?
Like any system, it's not perfect. That's why we have autonomy levels. Start in AI Suggest mode where you review everything before it goes out. The AI learns from your corrections and gets better over time. Critical decisions (like accepting a rate below your minimum) always get flagged for your review regardless of autonomy level.
Can I override the AI?
Always. Every AI decision can be overridden with one click. The AI treats your overrides as learning signals — if you consistently reject a certain type of recommendation, it adapts.
What if I want the AI to handle everything?
You can set full autonomy (AI Auto mode) for any or all departments. The AI will handle everything within the rules you've set and only escalate truly unusual situations. Many carriers start manual and gradually increase autonomy as they build trust.
What if I only want AI for some things?
Absolutely. You can set different autonomy levels per department. Maybe you want AI to handle status updates and invoicing automatically, but keep rate negotiation on manual. Mix and match however you want.
Does the AI work overnight?
Yes. The AI runs 24/7. Broker emails that come in at 2 AM get processed immediately. This is especially valuable for carriers that work across time zones or want to respond to load offers before the competition.
Pricing & Billing
Is the founding carrier program really free?
Yes, genuinely free. No credit card required. No trial period. Free forever for the first 10 carriers, up to 15 trucks. We need real-world usage data to prove the AI works, and that's worth more to us than subscription fees right now.
What happens after the founding phase?
Founding carriers keep their free access forever — it's grandfathered. New carriers after the founding phase pay $99/truck/month.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. No per-load fees, no per-email fees, no setup fees, no overage charges. The price is the price.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No contracts, no cancellation fees. Though founding carriers who leave lose their free spot — it goes to the next carrier on the waitlist.
Operations
Does Freigent work with owner-operators?
Yes, and owner-operators might benefit the most. You're doing everything yourself — driving, dispatching, negotiating, invoicing. Freigent handles the desk work so you can focus on the road.
What about team drivers or multiple shifts?
Fully supported. Each driver has their own profile, HOS tracking, and assignment history. The AI considers all drivers when making assignment recommendations.
Can I manage multiple trucks with different equipment types?
Yes. Each truck and trailer is tracked with its equipment type. The AI only matches loads with compatible equipment — a reefer load won't get assigned to a dry van truck.
Does Freigent handle detention and accessorial charges?
Yes. The AI tracks detention time (time waiting at pickup/delivery beyond the free time), generates detention invoices, and includes accessorial charges in the billing.
Can I use Freigent for LTL or partial loads?
Yes. The Smart Load Builder feature helps combine partial loads, track remaining trailer capacity, and optimize multi-stop routes.
Mobile & Driver App
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. Drivers use the Freigent mobile app to receive assignments, submit status updates, upload documents (BOL, POD), and communicate with dispatch. Available on iOS and Android.
Do drivers need to learn a new app?
The driver app is simple — accept load, update status, take photos. Most drivers are comfortable with it within their first load. It replaces the constant back-and-forth phone calls with dispatch.
Can drivers reject load assignments?
Depending on your settings, yes. For independent contractors or owner-operators, the system can be set to suggest loads rather than auto-assign, giving the driver the choice to accept or decline.
