No inbox needed (the negotiate-load skill, pasted path). Give the offer, the miles and your minimum or your cost per mile. The answers below are real, from a test account; the rates are example numbers.
Ask
A broker offered $1,800 for 450 loaded miles, 40 deadhead. My minimum is $1,950. What do I counter?
What you get
Recommendation: counter at $2,175. Walk-away: $1,950, your minimum. Your floor is $1,950 ($4.33 per loaded mile), from your minimum rate. The offer of $1,800 is below your floor. Counter at $2,175 ($4.83 per loaded mile). How the counter was set: your minimum plus 12%, Freigent's default when no target rate is on file ($2,184), rounded to the nearest $25. No market rate was provided.
The assistant then drafts a short reply in your voice for you to send from your own email.
With a cost per mile instead of a minimum ("my cost is $2.10 a mile"), Freigent works the floor from your cost and tells you what you clear:
At $1,800 you clear $771 after cost on 490 miles (450 loaded, 40 empty).
The next round
When the broker comes back ("they came back at $1,875; I had asked $2,150"):
They came up $75; match their move, no lower than your floor. Recommendation: counter at $2,075.
What it will not do, and what it says
- Guess missing numbers. Without the miles:
Error: loaded_miles is required and must be greater than 0.
- Quote a market rate. Every answer says it was worked from your numbers only.
- Go below your floor, even when an earlier counter was lower:
Their $1,875 is below your current floor of $1,950; a historic counter cannot override it.
